The battle between Id and 3D Realms is over over???
I hvae just got Max Payne through the door and i was flicking throught the manual when I saw the back cover OHHH a stain that looks remarkably like the Quaker symbol. Id and 3D Realms battled it out with the Orginal Quake and Duke Nukem 3D but is this a sign that 3D Realms have surrenderd by placing image... or was it just a mistake? who knows? you decide!
Ohh and for those of u who think its a coffee cup its not very round :)

For
the last year I have been working on The Worm... But I gave you my word
that when I got a new PC the TDO Zone would be back.... and I kept that
word to an extent with Battlezone II Op Flashpoint and news... but now
I want to take it back to how it was... The Worm its self has out grown
the idea of two people making it for a laugh... Once Little Sister is over
I will be changing the whole design... Worm fans dont worry... there will
still be updates etc... but the TDO Zone is going to be at the front...

MSTS
(Microsoft Train Simulator) is out on the 20th and all the people who laughed
at it have had to take a big gulp... PC Gamer 88% PC Format 77% I have
been watching this game come about with the help of Mark Ireland. I was
told to put it up as a dare but hey... I like it :) Flob gave me this wonderful

have run a program called 3D Mark 2001 and this bench marks your pc and
gfx card well as my graphics card owns i was happy to see all the priity
dynamic lighting untill i came to a re run from the Martrix. This uses
the MAX FX graphics engine and is the most realistic engine I have seen
for a while. Quake III Unreal Tourny MY ARSE this game is stunning and
with the likes of soldier of fortune 2, Return to castle wolfenstein and
Unreal 2 graphics are gonna get even better... as soon as I can nab some
screenies ill post them. This really is the PC waving its middle finger
at PS2, X-Box and gamecube

Half Life 2 not to be
Half Life Blue shift is set to be an add on of the orginal insted of a brand new game, but Im still not sure if the game will be anactuall addon or if it will be stand alone.

have teamed up with Microsoft to produce trains and track for them... the

Soldier of Fortune 2 set to stun
In eyes the first was rather crap or though it did have nice gore. I was reading PC Gamer as I usualy do and I turned the page and nearly fell off my chair as the most realistic human in a computer game was looking at me, once i have nicked some screenies then you will be the first to know (well sorta :)

Voodoo 5500 Gets stuffed
This time its from PC Format giving it a review of 65% and saying that it is too expensive and is slow. While on the other hand the Hercules Prophet II GTS gets a nice 91%. Scroll down to see Nvidea Vs 3DXX
We are 2 years old today...
As you can see we are 2 years old today and unfortunatly the site updates are getting a bit slow... 2 reasons for this... My PC is a P166 with 32Mb ram so I can't go into huge details about Quake III mods and extras untill I go round to Slayer Cee's house and play on his P333 (he lives nextdoor and helps with the site) and 2 is that I am putting most of my time to The Worm. I will be gettinga brand new PC in April :) or even earlier ( I hope) Then get Quake 3 and reinstall HL, UT and Homeworld and start to take this site to its full potential. At the moment I am homing in on Quake II as its the only game that will run with a reasonable frame rate and i cna play it online. So I ask you to stick with us untill we go crazy and put masses of new info up. The end is NOT near, its just the beggining of grate future

patch on Septembers issue of PC Gamer. The classed based CTF mod that was
Quake II's answer to TFC is one hell of a mod, including extras and new

5000 Vs Geforce2 GTS
Theses
are the 2 of the fastest graphics cards in the world, but as with everything
one has to be better than the other. Without going into the nityy gritty
detail of which can produce this many triangles per nano second and how
many maga pixels one can produce we will leave it to a nice bar chart I
have made from an article in PC-Zone don't know what they mean but it tells
you that one is better than the other.

Doom III on its way!
Doom... one of the best games ever created on any format is going to have 21st centry make over. Id are haveing problems within and have sacked a few people but for Carmack and his army of programmers they have stopped everything as they want to make Doom III. This could even meen that Return To Castle Wolfenstien is goning to be delayed... So far all that is known of Doom III is that it is going to be single player based but also have the multiplayer game that started the online revolution. As for graphics they are going to improve Quake III's engine !!!!!!!!!! When ever it comes out its going to be good.

Carmageddon The Death Race 2000 Demo
PC-Gamer has got a demo of Carmageddon 3 on its August Magazine. Minimum spec a P2 with 32mg ram and 3D Device, Needs a lot of HDD space just for the demo. There are Zombies!!! But I am sure that there will be a human patch going about the internet on its release. Watch out next month as it hasn't been reviewed yet.
Weapons Factory for Q3
There is a download able beta test of WF at PlanetQuake for a small 70mb and thats the beta! Unfortunately it wasn't on PC-Gamer's disc as advertised

Carmageddon The Death Race 2000
Carmageddon TDR 2000 looks as if it is nearly ready for release. The addverts are appearing in games magazines and the pictures show that iit is going to be one hell of a fun game. No word yet whether the people are people or zombies [Watch this space]
Homeworld : Cataclysm
Yes Homeworld 2 is about... somewhere. PC-Zone had a preview of it and it looks rather good. Improved graphics, weapons, ships, details, interfaces, physics, AI, controls, story and this is just the preview!!!! There are lots of new ships and storylines. An extra from the orginal is that you can morph ships into one so you can build your own super ship. All effects have been improved with explosions, shock waves and astroid belts. This looks to be a huge game.

Weapons Factory for Q3
A lovely pop up from Gamespy informed me that Weapons Factory is to be found on Quake III Arena. The mod that I have been talking of for some time is the CTF version of Team Fortess Classic. You have an engineer, Cyborg, Recon, Pyro... and this was for Quake II. The Q2 version offers extras not seen in TFC like the placement of laser beems that slice 'N' dice people. The Q2 version also had new guns like the M16 and the sentry seeking missile launcher. The Quake III Weapons Factory should be better and will be found on next months PC Gamer cover discs.

Quake III TEAM Arena
We all know about Quake III Vs Tourney but this should swing the vote to Q3. Id have sorted DM but team play is little to look at so they have released a new part. Quake III Team Arena offers new arenas, weapons, power-ups and new mods for CTF. There is lots to be done to get it finished so id have given it their "Its done when its done" label From what I have seen it looks damn good. You can of course play Quake III Fortress Arena while you wait.
Unreal Warfare and Unreal 2
Unreal Warfare is going to be the next installment of Unreal but seems a long way off. Not a lot is known about this yet but I will keep you posted. Unreal 2 is also being programmed, yet again at E3 Unreal 2 was shown. U2 is going to be more a single player event than tourney and suggest that Warfare will be its equivalent. Epic have know got there own graphics engine with curves and boasts huge rolling terrain. Epic are also using a new sceletal system which makes the player model even more realistic with separate animation's, including blinking eyes moving hair, face frowns and finger movement. Should be good
Id's Return To Castle Wolfenstein
8 years old Wolfenstein 3D is going to have a sequel. RTCW was on show at the E3 trade show and PC Gamer have released some stunning pictures. RTCW takes off exactly from its original and you are Bj Blazkiwicz who must escape the Nazi cell that he is in and stop the Nazi's evil plans. Graeme Devine from id said "It's got the whole mystic Indiana Jones feel to it" With the story going to be like that, this isn't going to be a average 2nd WW shooter. The game is helped along by that lovely Quake III Arena engine we all know and love. id have also made some changes by making most of the scenery destructible. Get you Luger MP4 and shoot mortar off the walls! There are great out door structures as well like a cable car that you can either sit inside and dodge German bullets from an oncoming car or stand on the roof and smash a grenade through the window! Sounds like fun

Mods section is soon to arrive
I am currently writing up a whole section for some of the best mods or modifications for some of the games on the site. These pages will have reviews and links to downloads from planetquake.com and captured.com. These reviews will include Team Fortress, Capture the flag, Domination and even Weapons Factory. Oh and we are still trying to make some new skins... the old ones should be published very soon.
Team Fortress v1.5
Yes while people wait for Team Fortress 2 Valve has given us a nice little update. This new version has updated interfaces 3 new scenarios and network technology. The new version will come as a new patch update for Half-Life. Opposing Force CTF is also soon to come out and I am told it is a real variation. TFC1.5 will be at www.sierrastudios.com next month.
Barrysworld to be updated
Yes the "Real gamers choice" is to have a serious upgrade. The people at Barrysworld are some great people having FREE multiplayer servers for nearly every game Quakeworld to Rally Masters!! Barrysworld has now secured a multi-million pound deal and will be updating every thing. The website will have a complete makeover and more servers are to be added.

You may remember the old times when this site used to be the 'Quake II Files' and me and Slayer Cee used to have some Good bad and rather ugly skins on a downloads page. Team Fortress Classic is a comin'
Valve/Sierra's Master Piece Half-Life has a mod... This mod is a total comversion and means to Half-Life what CTF and RA mean to Quake II. The team player DM/CTF/Domination/Hunt... is Team Fortress Classic and I am writing up a section within Half-Life about it. Plus watch out as Team Fortress Classic 2 could be coming out. Unreal Tourny on PS2!
Acording to Playstation Magazine (PSM) Unreal Tournament, the game we all know and love (apart from the makers of Quake III :) is to appear on the new Playstation 2. A confrence played a fully working version of the game. PSM also said that it was rather slow. HEHE the Playstation 2 cant do something my 166 can, I find that funney. Unfortunatly there are no screen shots just that damn pic of "Bruce" getting gunnned down by people with Plasma Guns. What I would like to know is why the PS2 needs a bot match game when you cant play it over the net and the whole idea of bots is to practice your skills before using them on the net!!!! Whats going on with these people? More information about the game should be avaliable when Unrael hits the PSX later this year

Yes Tom Da Ork is back! I am now able to play Quake and Quake II over the net. There has been an error that has stopped me for over a year, but now im back. I mainly play Quake II Freeze Tag at Barry's World (194.88.93.10:27840) where I have taken to the name "SeMTeX" This site was made because I enjoyed Quake II on line so much and then it just grew. As far as the site is going, Im am trying to fit a minimum of 2 more games. Watch out for more

Updating crazy
At the moment I am finishing my dull Year 10 exams and things birthday related, so the new navigating system will be put to its test when I put up new pages about 'classic' games, these will include Homeworld, Kingpin and of course Doom. These will be apearing when I have enough free time to put them up. So expect them soon. I hope to include more games for this new syle to the site. The site will now relate to the games that have changed gaming and their genre.

No this isn't an advert for the mag, but they have a great cover disc. It contains 500 extras for Half-Life, Quake III and Unreal Tournament, including: new skins, models, levels, add-ons and total conversion. PC-Zone also had a cover disc with 250 new levels. Check Planet Quake for more and links for other games.

Unreal Tourny Takes to the net
Unreal Tournament is taking the net by storm. Every where you go now there is some one playing UT over the net. PC Format's March 2000 mag also shows what to do if you want to play Q3 and UT over a network. It shows that Quake III has over shadowed Unreal but it is fighting back. 250 new levels were on a PC-Zone cover disc and patches are appearing. The fight may of settled between the two games but the owners are still battling it out.

As with all id games modifications come out from different companies. No I am not talking about a few new levels and a new gun for £25 Im talking about the new mods for CTF and eventually Freeze Tag should be up. There are too many to list but keep an eye on Planet Quake for all the latest
