The Best 10/10 Rating
Here are some of the best crashes ever, simple as that

Curling

Tom J got another 10/10 crash when he sent in this big time smash. He used a CGW freight train and rammed it into six freight cars/wagons at over 420 mph creating carnage and chaos. Excellent first picture.

10/10 02/10/06

Turbo Crash

Alex Johnson sent this in: This crash "Occurred on STEVES route when a turbocharged Dash 9 with 200+ cars in tow from all railroads hit the end of the spiral at 250 200+ MPH." Very nice work

10/10 10/09/06

Massive

Tom J created this crash. "I crashed a freight train into the rear of a passenger train at over 415 MPH causing this massive crash. (Ironically, this crash happened at the location Massive on the Kicking Horse Pass route!) In the crash, the lead loco of the passenger train actually sank into the ground!"

10/10 01/05/06

Can Canyon

Tom J sent in this impressive accident which "involves a freight train crashing into a cut of cars at 388 MPH. The crash made most of the train fly into a canyon, only to bounce out again." Excellent work.

10/10 30/03/06

Randy Wreck

I received this from Randy Dyer and apparently everyone he knew said it was "Wreck Of The Year". I am happy to say that I was impressed with this huge smash which took place somewhere on what looks to be the London - Brighton route our top mark.

10/10 16/1/06

Steam excursion

Another one from Tom this time showing what happens when a steam train slams into a warehouse at 130 MPH. I think we can all guess the inevitable carnage.

10/10 24/7/05

Apples may fall, but trains don't

Here's a crash that defies gravity: Tom crashed a train just before a bridge and it came out like this with the locos and most of the coaches suspended in mid air! Very odd stuff!

10/10 8/5/2005

Ribblehead Action

Here are two separate mass crashes sent in by Charles featuring HST's, Scotsman sets and a class Anglia 86 set. Massive amount of carnage including what looks to be an entire HST sat in the Ribble Valley.

10/10 25/4/2005

Where will they land?

JarOfWar sent in this crash which is as usual, extreme. A massive explosion of wagons and locos!

10/10 18/4/2005

Supercharged Madness

Jacques sent these three screenshots in of a over clocked Dash 9. The first two shots show the train ramming a lashup of the locomotive and a cut of 10 or so cars into a parked set of cars at 1000-2000mph. The third is a derail on a switch on the Marias Pass which went into a building. Great stuff!

10/10 25/3/2005

Double Header

This big steam crash comes in again from Ben Schepers who got a total of four trains running towards each other on a bend, creating a massive smoking crash... great work!

10/10 25/3/2005

The car, the road and the truck

Entertaining shot taken by JarOfWar of a freight car surprising a truck driver on a bridge!

10/10 27/1/2005

You hit a what?

Tom sent in this mad crash: This crash shows what happens when a train hits a FENCE at 220+ MPH. Not quite realistic, but a good crash. Great stuff!

10/10 9/1/2005

Valley

Tom sent in this great derail which results in a commuter train doing 490mph slipping off the rails and across a valley. Excellent.

10/10 4/1/2005

Ribblehurt

This big crash is from Tom after he smashed a diesel train into the back of the Flying Scotsman at over 750km/h!! A great timed first screenshot gets this a top rating!

10/10 9/10/04

Flipping Heck!

"I crashed a VIA train on the S&C route into a bufferstop at 245 mph and these three pics are the result." Another great timed shot shows the train flipping into the air. Great stuff!

10/10 30/9/04

Speed + Buffer =...

This big up close derail is from Liam who has sent in the results of a Thalys train smashing into a buffer stop at 199Mph. The crash caused the train to flip into the air and eventually land in wall of a house. Very nice work.

10/10 12/8/04

Explode

This mid air explosion is from Jar Of War, showing some stunning destruction.

10/10 12/8/04

Tunnel Pile

This crash from E is a "CSX tank train ramming a passenger train headed by NYC F-units at 600+mph. The CSX train won and there was a mass exodus to get out of the tunnel. It was pretty funny." Well I laughed lots when I opened my email with it in. Great stuff, you just have to love the way MSTS confuses itself with tunnels!

10/10 4/7/04

British Derail

Tom Jankowski again brings his wrath of destruction over here and crashed a freight train into a bufferstop covering our lovely countryside with wagons... Great stuff!

10/10 20/05/04

High Speed Head On

"This crash involves a CP train colliding head on with another train while travelling at 575 MPH. The impact sent the trains across the landscape." At least the camera kept up with the crash Tom!

10/10 04/05/04

CGW S&C

Too many abbreviations, but this crash from Tom is stunning. This crash was the result of one of Tom's locos going at "a few hundred miles per hour" and end up with a very impressive result.

10/10 28/04/04

Don't look now

This crash from Tom happend when a frieght train smashed into a grain elevator at 680mph, leaving the consist to bounce into the sky and the surrounding areas!

10/10 28/04/04

Tunnel Jam

This stunning derail comes from JarOfWar who manage to wreck a huge number of BNSF locos and wagons on the exit of a tunnel, great stuff!

10/10 16/4/04

Flying cars on a bridge

JarOfWar sent in this crash resulting in many wagons flying off a bridge in all directions. Quality stuff.

10/10 16/4/04

Steam disaster

"I crashed a steam train into a bufferstop at over 330 MPH and send the train flying all over the place as these two pics show" Great stuff Tom.

10/10 4/4/04

Uhh Oh

This crash from JarOfWar shows exactly what you don't want to be seeing as you drive a train, although I'm not quite sure what part of the train JOW is driving!?

10/10 22/03/04

Crowded platform

JarOfWar sent in this stunning crash which managed to fill an entire station!

10/10 22/03/04

Factory flying

"I crashed a BNSF freight with several tenders into a factory at about 600 MPH and sent the train flying in all directions. Enjoy." So simple Tom, but effective.

10/10 22/03/04

Air Tenders

A massive crash sent in by JarOfWar with some serious flying tenders. Love it!

10/10 17/03/04

Explosion

Jarofwar sent in this stunning crash resembling a massive exploding flying train, even with flying trails!

10/10 17/03/04

Pile up

JarOfWar sent this crash in that takes the words "pile up" and really brings them to MSTS.

10/10 14/03/04

GM Crops

Tom sent in this crash of another chemical spill this time in on our very own countryside at 230+mph. Hate to be the one to clear this one up!

10/10 9/3/04

3 Trains

This is a crash I did myself and basically, a Intercity 125 smashed into the back of a slow moving Class 60. The 125 derailed all across the line with the end car pointing to the sky, but the Class 60 with its much heaver freight only suffered a derail. Rather good if I do say so myself!

10/10 3/3/04

Flying in a winter wonderland

I crashed a BNSF train consisting of 3 supercharged Dash 9's, 2 un-powered GP38's and three cabooses into about 20 or so tenders at over 800 MPH and these three pics are the result. Enjoy! Well done Tom!

10/10 20/1/04

The tenderness of crashing

Another sent in with no name, but this time a massive crash with the Flying Scotsman tenders! Like it

10/10 14/1/04

really flying scotsman.JPG (19089 bytes) The Real Flying Scotsman

When we started this site, this was the one train that no one could crash, but through the years people have been doing it better and better, and here is another example with a real Flying Scotsman from Tom

icdeltic.jpg (95586 bytes) Old meets new

Intercity Boy sent in this great shot of a Deltc slamming into a GNER Class 43. Good work.

A real flying train

Daniel sent me with these shots, that really go one step further than some of the other flying shots we have had. Great work!

10/10 24/5/03

icscots.jpg (63552 bytes) Off the rails

Intercity Boy slipped this crash in an email with the other flying ones he sent in. This has to be one of the best Scotsman crashes we have had yet. Great work and nice camera angle.

Ribblehead Derail

Seán sent in this amazing crash of 12 Class 43 HST's ending up going head on, on the Ribblehead viaduct. The trains were made to head into each other with a 4 second gap between them. As they race round the corner into their doom at around 120mph everything crumples up and balances as another bunch of trains smash into what is left letting everything go everywhere. Great work Seán!

The Best Ever?

Adam seems to think these are the best crashes ever... he isnt far off. A great crash with the TGV and then it turns into one of our favorite type of crashes... the rocket train!

As for the best ever... ill let you decide.

10/10 27/12/02

91crash.jpg (186232 bytes) Crashed 91

Flob comes back to form with this great looking crash featuring the GNER class 91. Think flob as been fiddling with a cam hack heh

Ari Koivunen found a nice hill and turned a train into a rocket... with a nice bit of diesel smoke you could mistake it for a rocket!

The East Coast Mainline

This has to be our best set of crashes we have recieved yet. When Sean sent them to me i yelled "WOW" then burst out laughing. This is very excessive and very big and did i mention very good.

Text really cant put this into perspective so have a look for yourself

Size DOES matter!

I think this is Sean at work again and he has produced a stunning mass crash. Another Field shot as well of a EWS 67. I know I said CIGs cut through the country side of Sussex but I think that pic is taking it a step too far. Great work

Cleartheway.jpg (47334 bytes) Clear the way

Mike Phillips was  going about 125 MPH when I hit a stop. yes, its flying! Another outstanding crash sent in!

Viastack.jpg (452638 bytes) Stacked

I think this was a Via AMD103 and the pseudo-LRCs, I hit the buffer
and that's where they came to rest!

The not so Advanced Passenger Train

Tom and Flob quickly got hold of the BR APT-E (Advanced Passenger Train - Experimental) and did some quick test runs. Both proved why they should not of been on the original test crew.

The first pic is just a very funny one of the textures of the train. That bloke looks funny and very silly in the sim when the train is racing along at 150mph.

The others are crashes we both did. Good work if I dont say so myself

Thomas was testing 2 new locos on the Albula line and got some very odd results including these 2 tunnel crashes. We have only seen this camera angle once before (Tight Squeeze, our 2nd crash).

Another very bad day at the office

First the train crashes when going to fast into a station on the Pro Train route in the Rhine Valley. Not only does it roll over it also obstructs the other track, just in time for another train to smash into it. Perfect. Go Thomas!

This crash on the Albula Route happened with an E 152 painted in the colours of "Maerklin", a famous German producer of Railroad Models. Another great crash from Thomas Seifert , who really is making my e-mails a joy to open.

Bad day at work

This just shows that if its going to go wrong... its going to go wrong in a big way. Driving the new 125 at 88mph on a 80mph restricted track hit a corner, just as a NSE 159 DMU comes around the corner... The 125 derails into the path of the oncoming train also at 80mph, just in front of a viaduct. They collide head on and the rest of the 125 buckles and falls off the viaduct narrowly missing some houses. Impressive!
