Instant

I think Tom got a bit confused with these pancake mix carrying wagons. When it said Just add water your supposed to add water to the mixture not the train that is carrying them!

7/10 24/7/2004

Now you see it...

This crash from Tom is one where you blink and you miss it. A train crashing into the Flying Scotsman at over 450mph sending everything flying all over the place. The loco ended up in the far far distance kindly marked out by Tom.

9/10 24/7/2004

A long story

"Here's a crash I did today. It involves the collision of a train with a supercharged loco and the Flying Scotsman as well as a river; long story. Here's the crash instead..." cheers Tom... enough said I think!

8/10 24/7/2004

Broken

Caleb sent this crash in simply showing a crash that happend where the train "broke" looks good to me!

8/10 24/7/2004

Scotsflip

Liam crashed the Royal Scot steam train after driving it at 60mph into a buffer stop, this not only flipped the train but smashed one of the coaches out of the consist.

6/10 24/7/2004

Ribble Fall

Tom sent in this crash of a VIA freight train going straight into a train stopped on the ribble head viaduct on the Settle - Carlisle route. The coaches fell off the viaduct leaving only the loco.

7/10 24/7/2004

Crash activity

Liam sent these shots in showing the before and after of one of our crash activities set on the Ribblehead viaduct. Click here if you want to try this crash out for yourself!

14/7/04

Cab Over

This crash from Liam was created by running the entire S&C route and smashing into the bufferstop at the end. The tender compressed into the cab as it rolled upwards.

8/10 14/7/04

Uh oh

"Here is the what happens when a CSX freight crashed into another freight train at 435 MPH while inside a tunnel." Nice work there Tom.

9/10 14/7/04

Prepare for lift-off

"Here is a crash I just did on the S&C route. I crashed a train into a bufferstop at over 100 MPH and the second loco came to rest pointed straight up to the sky. The second pic is how the third loco and seven coaches came to rest". Thunderbirds anyone? nice work Tom

8/10 14/7/04

Clean that

This crash I did myself with a Railtrack Sandite unit, for some reason the front coach wanted to go one way and the rear wanted to go another, causing an odd derail on the London-Brighton route.

6/10 14/7/04

To the woods!

Tristen sent in this crash "using my supercharged dash again this time in a consist of 6-7 locomotives pulling Amtrak cars, I uncoupled the engines then reversed them causing a collision of approximately 2000 mph creating this flying result."

8/10 14/7/04

Boiler Stick Up

Liam sent in this Scotsman crashed into the buffers, and... the tender got squished so it stuck up with the cab and boiler.

6/10 4/7/04

Tunnel Pile

This crash from E is a "CSX tank train ramming a passenger train headed by NYC F-units at 600+mph. The CSX train won and there was a mass exodus to get out of the tunnel. It was pretty funny." Well I laughed lots when I opened my email with it in. Great stuff, you just have to love the way MSTS confuses itself with tunnels!

10/10 4/7/04

Cannon ball

This flying crash came in from Tom "I drove a train with a supercharged loco leading. I uncoupled the supercharged loco from the rest of the train in a tunnel, ran forward, then reversed into the rest of the train at about 700 MPH. The impact shot the first loco out of the tunnel like a cannon."

9/10 1/7/04

Flying Cannon Ball

This crash again from Tom is similar to the above crash, only its 3 times faster! Wonder what the view from the cab would of been!

9/10 1/7/04

Its going to hurt

This smash from Tom shows what happens when a GN freight and passenger train collide head on in the snow. I think we can blame the bad weather for this one!

9/10 1/7/04

Diversion

This crash was sent in by E, "DD40X ramming Amtrak at 700+mph, giving the passengers a chance to cash in those frequent flyer miles."

9/10 1/7/04

Bridged

Tom got an Acela train to derail at over 170mph and as it slid across the track managed to smash into a bridge support. I think we can safely say that all lines were blocked!

8/10 1/7/04

Heavy Freight

This crash from Tom is the result of a heavy freight train going through a buffer stop at 100+Mph causing a serious derail

9/10 1/7/04

Britannia Withdrawal

Our second ever youngest crasher Liam Ellem sent in another crash this time with the 70014 "Iron Duke" steamer derailing out of the Toyko-Hankone route at 80-100mph resulting in the passengers getting a great view of the trees.

8/10 21/6/04

Factory Smash

Tom continues to show his disliking to factories with another freight train smashing into one. This time he used a GN train to crash into an entire complex at 170mph!

8/10 21/6/04

Better late then never

This crash was sent in from Tom. He did this a while ago and only just found it to send it in. A "highspeed" BNSF frieght train tried to play chicken with a factory and lost out, making a large mess.

8/10 21/6/04

Rerail that!

I was pushing some BR Re-Railing coaches with a EWS Class 37 when the coaches slipped off the rails and made their way into the side of a tunnel making the first coach flip right up.

9/10 21/6/04

Steam affair

This steaming crash has been sent in by Liam Ellem who has started his crashing career at the age of 10! Great derail with impressive smoke. Nice work!

9/10 16/6/04

Smashed Dash

Tristen sent in this big crash after he drove a supercharged Dash 9 at over 500mph back into some wagons.

8/10 16/6/04

Amtrak Snake

Tom sent in this large derail of an Amtrak train after it smashed into a bufferstop at 160mph. The results show some of the front of the train leaping off the ground whereas the rest smashed into each other taking out most of the line.

8/10 16/6/04

Steam Derail

Tom sent in this crash formed of a steam and a commuter train crashing into a bufferstop on the S&C route, creating a nice derailed mess.

8/10 16/6/04

Frosty Dash

This crash was sent in by Tristen "I tried the uncouple and ramming trick on a cliff edge on Marias Pass and when the train hit the 2 BNSF Dash 9's the train sent one on a runaway trip down the hill towards the river" And in such lovely weather too.

7/10 16/06/04

On a whole

I was driving an Intercity Class 91 train when I hit a corner 20mph faster than I should of, the train slipped off the tracks and headed where it wanted into the wood next to the line. What was interesting about this crash was that the train stayed together as it bounced into the British countryside. I was expecting the train to snake around or get airborne but it stayed complete with only a few coaches going slightly sideways.

8/10 16/06/04

Shore smash

This crash from Tom is of a South Shore train smashing into a building at over 250mph

7/10 11/06/04

Southern Smash

I was driving a new Southern Railway 4-4-2 steam loco on the London to Brighton route and yet again I hit a temporary speed restriction but only by a few mph too fast, still the loco slipped off the rails with the rest of the wagons smashing into the back of it, rolling it over and pushing it. Even at a relatively slow speed some of the coaches took off after hitting the loco.

8/10 11/06/04

Gatwick Express

I decided to see for myself how much of an Express the old Class 73 driven Gatwick Express was, and found out that its too fast for temporary speed restrictions!

6/10 11/6/04

Here's GP38

This crash from Tristen shows the GP38 ramming its way through a F7 consist. I think its clear to see who would win a head on collision!

7/10 11/6/04

Lifting the Dash

Tristen sent this crash in where a Dash 9 is being lifted from behind after the rest of the train rammed into the back.

8/10 11/6/04

Jumped curve

This crash from Tristen of a CN rail freight train consisting of 2 F7A's, 2 F7 B's, 1 GP38-2, 1 GP38-2w and 3 GP-9's jumping a curve at 95 mph in a 45 mph zone. An impressive consist for a derail

7/10 8/6/04

Shorely not

"I crashed a South Shore freight train off the end of the track at 100 MPH and these three pictures are the result" Nice work Tom.

8/10 8/6/04

SOO Much for breaks

"Here is my latest crash. I crashed a SOO Line local freight into a river at 70 MPH. Not the fastest, but a decent enough crash with some tank cars derailed. Oh well, enjoy." Can't really complain at that, nice one Tom.

7/10 8/6/04

Keeps on going and going and going and going....

This massive derail from Tom shows what happens when a fright train runs out of track at 290Mph. Wouldn't want to be in the way of that thing!

8/10 2/06/04

Late Amtrak

Tom derailed this Amtrak train at night after it ran off a siding.

7/10 2/06/04

Buffed coal

This crash again from Tom was caused by driving a  BN Coal train through a buffer stop at 180mph derailing the entire train.

7/10 2/06/04

Conrail crash

Tom smashed this Conrail freight train into a factory at over 280mph causing a massive crash!

9/10 2/6/04

BNSF's turn

Glenn sent in this crash, where he has done the same as he did with the BR Class 50's but this time with the BNSF Dash 9. This time creating some serious mess, which is nice.

9/10 24/05/04

Flipping 50's

This is a big crash sent in by Glenn. Looks like its the old trick of uncoupling the coaches and letting them ram into the back of the engine, but these must of been going at some serious speed, because everything took off! Nice work!

9/10 24/05/04

From Russia with mess

This derail from Caleb Randolph is of a Russian train. Looks like it is totally off the line and the camera is about to get a smack!

9/10 24/05/04

To the skies!

Again from Tom this crash has a NYO&W train jumping a river at over 280mph, with the train hitting the other bank and flying into the air.

9/10 24/05/04

Rail America Smash

This crash from Tom has a Rail America freight train crashing into a building at over 200mph, the result being the heavy wagons trying to take off, good work!

8/10 24/05/04

SR Derail

A different Southern Railways crash from last week, this one is from Tom with a train crashing into a factory at over 80mph

6/10 24/05/04

Damn embankments

Another crash from Tom "I did where I crashed a CP freight train into the rear end of another CP train. This crash also depicts again how embankments can be a pain as you can see! Enjoy!"

8/10 20/05/04

50 Flop

Glenn Hall sent in this series of derails and crashes of a double running class 50 with 12 coaches going at over 300mph. Different variation with the crashed but you would of thought after a few the driver might slow down to say... 100mph? Ahh well its all good for this site, nice work Glenn

8/10 20/05/04

British Derail

Tom Jankowski again brings his wrath of destruction over here and crashed a freight train into a bufferstop covering our lovely countryside with wagons... Great stuff!

10/10 20/05/04

Southern Railway Madness

I was testing out a SR steam train and how it handles junctions, it handled it very well but sadly I forgot the track lead to nowhere.... nice result

8/10 20/05/04

Hard to please crasher

"Here is a crash that happened a little early and not in the style I wanted. I was driving a MTA PCC streetcar towing a MBTA commuter train when at 107 MPH, the train seperated from the streetcar. I tried to slow down to try and have the train couple back up before I completely stopped. However, I slowed down a little too much and as a result, the MBTA commuter train knocked the streetcar off the tracks and sent it hurtling end over end in mid air until it ended up in this position." Nice work Tom!

8/10 13/05/2004

Up... up and... not away

Tom was driving an Amtrak train at 100 MPH when I uncoupled the first loco and hit the brakes causing the second loco and the rest of the train to crash into it and these pics are the result.

9/10 10/5/04

From bad to worse

After crashing straight into a buffer stop at quite a pace with a NSE CIG I then had the small problem of a Intercity Class 47 bearing down on my derailed train at 90mph. The images show how the 47 derailed right into the other coaches that were still standing.

8/10 10/5/04

Failed bridge & Spot the train

Here are two crashes Tom sent in. The first is of a train of RDC's crashing into another train of RDCs on a bridge while travelling at 90 MPH. The second is the result of a freight train crashing into a boxcar at over 460 MPH and taking a trip through the woods. Enjoy.
