2003 Crashes |

 |
Its
the season for giving... and ramming,
derailing, crashing, and rolling.
Tom sent in
these crashes of that Holiday Train again getting some nice careful attention
with some great crashes. The holiday train crashed into another doing
400-500mph. The other crash consists of some supercharged locos and some not,
paying a special delivery to a factory.

 |
Off
the tracks
I
think the title of this image sums it up perfectly Caleb did this in the
morning, think it shows what happens when you drive when tired... Keep it up!
8/10 17/12/03 |

 |
Holidays
are coming....
Its nearly chrismas and they make a CP Holiday
train, its nice and shiny and looks so merry... yet you all want to destroy it!
Good for you! Tom sent this one at 300mph and even with a red nose couldn't get
it off the ground for long!
9/10 17/12/03 |

 |
Various Here's a
crash I did a little while ago. I crashed a train into a bufferstop at a really
high speed and here is the result. Enjoy... Cheers Tom we will!
8/10 7/12/03
|

 |
Uncoupled Tom
sent in this crash of a supercharged loco with 11 coaches and uncoupled them at
400mph. Then he did the old trick of slamming the breaks on and waiting... Works
every time!
9/10 7/12/03 |
 |
'Tis the season...
...to crash trains tralalalala. Mark sent in another
nice little seasonal crash with the holiday train... I wonder does the Bell add
to the festiveness?
9/10 03/12/03 |

 |
Thalys Thomas
sent in this crash on a German route heading towards Dresden. Nice air on the
coaches, not sure about the copyright details underneath... the things people
do! Nice one!
8/10 03/12/03 |
 |
Flying Steam
Caleb Randolph sent in his second edition of the re entry shots from earlier
this year, dont think we have had a steamer get that much air, at least not in a
long time!
8/10 25/11/03 |
  |
Runaway "I
was on KHP Version 1, between the Spiral tunnels heading towards Field. The
consist was similar to the SP freight train that crashed at Duffy Street in 1989
after it ran away on Cajon Pass. 4 people were killed in that crash. This MSTS
consist had 4 diesels up front, 69 hopper cars, and 2 diesels on the rear (one
of which was a GP60 I had supercharged). I uncoupled the lead unit between the
Spiral tunnels, and the rest of the train didn't "fall back". I couldn't speed
up or slow down! I was out of control. I did have the "No derailments" option
checked off. I ended up crashing in Field, British Columbia at a speed of 210
MPH, I sent some hopper cars into the river." Original crashing from Tom.
9/10 25/11/03 |

 |
Holidays are coming!
"I took the CP Holiday Train On the hiatsu line and
uncoupled the car on a hill onand then threw the Locomotive into emergency"
Cheers Mark, added bonus having all those lights on it so you can see it when
its in a bush!
8/10 25/11/03 |

 |
Austria Style One
of our German fans sent in this series of a rather tasty derailment on the
Tauernbahn-route/Austria
route with the train going solo and the wagons slamming in the station. Good
work Thomas.
7/10 25/11/03 |
   |
Old vs New
This crash from Tom is proof that some trains are just more powerful than
others, with one train smashing into a steam train at about 300mph. Something
had to give!
8/10 25/11/03
.
|
  |
Due Crash "I
attempted to recreate the train scene in one episode of the show Due South where
a special train with Mounties on board is on a collision course with a small
freight train carrying explosives. In the show, the Mountie train is narrowly
switched out of the train carrying explosives' path. However, in this crash, I
UNINTENTIONALLY wasn't switched in time and I hit the other train as you can see
in my pics. Note; this crash was 100% accidental!" Ok Tom I believe you! Its all
good either way!
8/10 25/11/03 |

 |
The wonders of gravity
"Here's a crash I did this morning. I crashed a commuter train in push mode into
a steam train on a bridge. The steam train and four of the cars on the commuter
train fell off the bridge."
9/10 8/11/2003
|

 |
Supercharged
I had a supercharged locomotive pulling 2 VIA locos and 11 coaches. I
uncoupled the supercharged loco at 300 MPH and hit the brakes and let the rest
of the train crash into it. Tom does it again!
9/10 8/11/2003
|

 |
Going under FeFe
sent this crash in "The reason is very simple: I braked a little late so I
couldn't stop the train; check the second picture as the coaches are about to
take a look at what is under the bridge." Very effective.
9/10 8/11/2003 |

 |
Take to the sky
Tom sent in these crashes with this note: "Here
are two shots of a CN freight train crashing at over 260 MPH in the curve that
other people have been crashing trains at. Enjoy!"
8/10 8/11/2003 |

 |
Remember, remember... that corner!
Adam sent in these two shots of a long consist
hurtling down his favourite part of track. One looks like a firework in the day,
and the other shows a bit of a scary close up of the jet engines! Its nearly Nov
5th, so nice one!
9/10 21/10/2003 |
 |
Alligator crash
After uncoupling the gp38-2 loco, it started going fast down the hill, hit the
tunel, and weirdly landed in this position.
9/10 16/10/03
|
 |
Wrong Line Adam
sent in this crash, the image is self explanatory. 200km into a bufferstop,
simple and effective. Sorted!
8/10 16/10/03 |
    |
Up and around, or not
Adam sent in these crashes, one where he attempted
to jump over a bridge with the GNER Eurostar and failed (we like it when that
happens) and also he found one of his favourite corners and found that buildings
don't bounce as much as trains. (We also like it when that happens).
9/10 15/10/03 |

 |
King Of The Track
"Here is something kinda different in MSTS. I
attempted to recreate the scene from an episode of King of the Hill where Hank's
beloved pickup is hit by a train. Two pics are the crash itself and the third is
just before I hit it."
9/10 15/10/03 |

 |
Subway Smash Tom
sent in this crash of two subway trains smashing into the back of one another
whilst being in a tunnel. Great work and a nice camera angle considering MSTS
goes haywire when your in a tunnel!
8/10 29/9/03 |

  |
Roll on, and on and on
"Here are four crashes. Two are of a Norfolk Southern freight
derailing on a siding at over 60 MPH and two are of an AMT commuter train
derailing at over 100MPH."
Can't go wrong with that! Good work
7/10 21/9/03
|
    |
Intercity Boy Does It Again
IC Boy sent in these crashes. Apparently these will
be the last crashes we shall see from him for some time, but I would like to say
thanks for all his work with supplying quality crashes! (That also goes to the
rest of you that keep this site to the standard that it is!)
An airborne derail and two very odd shots of what
look like "N" gauge trains on real track, and also a Mainline loco getting
surrounded by its own carriages, interesting.
8/10 21/9/03 |

 |
One Bend Too Many
Tom gets back to form with nomal Train Sim behaivor
with this crash using a rather long Union Pacific train. "I uncoupled the locos
and first car of a Union Pacific freight train at high speed and then hit the
brakes" Its the oldest trick in the book, but it works!
8/10 6/9/03 |

 |
Hinton Crash Tom
is starting to worry me now by sending another attempt at recreating a real
crash. This time he chose to simulate the crash at Hinton, Canada from 1986.
Reading up on this crash I found a real photo of the event so you can see how
close Tom was. The real crash was the result of a passenger train being in
head-on collision with a freight train which had wrongly entered the main
running line instead of remaining in a passing-loop.
9/10 6/9/03 |
 |
Re-entry Caleb
sent in another crash simply titled, Re-Entry. You can understand why.
7/10 6/9/03 |
 |
Door to Door service
Caleb sent in this crash of Eurostar's new service
that delivers you right to your doorstep, though I doubt in one piece after
looking at this crash.
8/10 30/08/03 |
 |
Golsdorf oopps
Caleb Randolph sent in this crash, a very good effort from one train I dont
think we have any crashes of! Good work!
8/10 26/8/03 |
 |
Fender Bending gone wrong
Toms's explanation... "a commuter train pushed by a
supercharged dash 9 T-boning another commuter train."
9/10 26/8/03 |

 |
Three way Chase "I attempted to
recreate the fatal collision between an Amtrak train and three Conrail diesels
at Chase Md."
Realistic and a good train sim crash, cant ask for much more!
9/10 26/8/03 |
 |
A Bridge Too Far
"I crashed two trains on a bridge above a third train. This is the
result with at least two of the trains derailed. I think it deserves a pretty
high rating..." So do I Tom!
9/10 5/8/03 |
 |
Simpsons Ever wonder what
happened at the end of the Simpsons episode when Homer and Bart take a train
load of napalm back to Springfield? I think something like this...
7/10 5/8/03 |
 |
Con-Air
"I crashed a Conrail freight off the end of
an elevated section of track and the train cars came to rest almost in the shape
of an arrow (with the exception of one hopper car)."
8/10 25/7/03
|
 |
Weird Ore
Tom sent in this crash of three trains colliding
on an ore dock. Its a long story apparently so here's the picture instead.
7/10 25/7/03
|

 |
Supercharged
Here is a crash Tom did with 3 GP60s that he
supercharged as well as 5 Kihas. The first is a shot of the train taking to the
sky and the second is after I uncoupled the first two GP60s and t-boned the rest
of the train.
Nice work I say...
8/10 25/7/03
|
 |
Weight Problems
"The Santa Fe diesel in the picture is a
loco I supercharged then reduced the weight to 1 ton. I crashed a BC Rail
freight into it and as you can see, even though the Santa Fe diesel is derailed,
the BC Rail train is still on the tracks."
6/10 12/7/03
|

 |
Steaming along... or not
Tom sent in these shots of what happens when he
gets behind the controls of a good old fashioned steam train... the same as what
happens when he gets the controls of any train really!
9/10 12/7/03
|
  |
Fly away, into a hill
Tom sent in this crash of another train going
airborne, but this time there wasnt a nice wood or a field to land in, just to
make matters worse.
8/10 12/7/03
|

 |
Derails and air
Simply put by Tom: Both
trains crashed into bufferstops at a high rate of speed, however, the second was
going faster.
7/10 9/7/03
|
 |
Railgrinder Crash
Mark sent in this crash of a series of Railgrinding
trains, and demonstrates what happens when they get switched onto the wrong
line.
9/10 9/7/03
|
 |
The Real Flying Scotsman
When we started this site, this was the one train that no
one could crash, but through the years people have been doing it better and
better, and here is another example with a real Flying Scotsman from Tom
10/10 28/6/03
|

 |
Random Derails
Tom sent in this large number of train crashes showing
various derailments. BNSF's scattered accross the countryside and a CP train
falling off an ore dock, feature in this bunch of pics. Great work Tom
8/10 28/6/03
|
 |
Smoking cow
If cows are lying down, it means its going to rain, but
what happens when the cows get run over?
8/10 22/6/03
|
 |
Ready for takeoff
Intercity Boy decided to try and do a mission to mars with
the ICE loco.
9/10 22/6/03
|

|
Virgin Derail
A set of random derails of a Virgin train. Say no
more.
8/10 22/6/03
|

 |
Various Derails
Another set of crashes from Intercity Boy this
time with a number of derails including one rather long range attempt.
8/10 22/6/03
|
 |
Old meets new
Intercity Boy sent in this great shot of a Deltc
slamming into a GNER Class 43. Good work.
10/10 22/6/03
|
 |
That sinking feeling
Tom sent this which explains it all: "I
crashed a train off the end of the ore dock on the LS&I route at about 100
MPH and here is the result of the train in the water"
8/10 17/6/03
|

 |
Crunched
Tom sent this to me "I crashed a Talgo
train into bufferstops at a high rate of speed in
Japan and on Marias Pass." Say no more hehe.
8/10 7/6/03
|

 |
Real horsepower
Flob found a new train for MSTS, this being a horse to
pull the old 19th cent wagons. Ofcourse Flob being himself had to crash them and
here are the results. On good thing about the "train" is you dont have
to spend long working out how much HP the horse has in the .eng file.
7/10 2/6/03
|
  |
A little close for comfort
Your sitting down in your urban city house, you look out
of your window and see this take place and fly off in your general direction.
Nice work Tom.
8/10 31/5/03
|

 |
Evening, balancing and on a hill...
Tom sent in these three shots, including a good evening
crash and one loco trying to park up on a roof. Also a great example of how
embankments can be a real pain for a derail
7/10 31/5/03
|
 |
31 Slideshow
Intercity Boy sent in this animated gif showing a 31 going
straight into the buffers (400k image)
6/10 30/5/03
|
   |
A real flying train
Daniel sent me with these shots, that really go one step
further than some of the other flying shots we have had. Great work!
10/10 24/5/03
|

 |
Dodgy Derails
Tom also sent in this series of derails. The first being a
quality derail with excellent camera work (as usual). The second being a massive
mess of wagons everywhere, third looks more like a dodgy model railway with the
size of the train compared to the building. The last being a great derail in the
rain.
8/10 22/5/03
|

 |
Flying away
Tom sent in these two airborne shots. First is rather
class, as long as you don't live in that building! The other is comical due to
that message, maybe a little less on the power next time Tom? oops!
9/10 22/5/03
|

 |
Adam's Start
Adam sent in his first ever crashes. One being a simple
but effective flying 43 HST and the other being a not so great advert for Anglia
rail. Keep it up Adam!
7/10 21/5/03
|
 |
Derf's Mess
A friend of Tom's emailed in this tasty derail. Apparently
hitting a buffer stop at over 100mph caused this mess. Nice
8/10 21/4/03
|

 |
Round the world in 5 crashes
IC boy sent in these crashes of some different engines.
Including a half flying and derailing ICE train. Also a chance to play Spot The
Virgin 220 game, I know there fast but how far into that field did it go?
8/10 15/4/03
|
 |
Scotsman at its best?
Tom sent in this stunning crash of the Flying Scotsman.
With his usual amazing angles with crashes this goes a step further.
Outstanding!
10/10 7/4/03
|
 |
Potters?
This is another one sent in by Intercity Boy, however this
does bring back memories of a certain crash at Potters Bar. At least no one gets
hurt in this simulation!
8/10 7/4/03
|

 |
More train wrecks
Tom sent in these various crashes and derails. There is a
very interesting look at a certain rear end, and shows that even big and heavy freight
can end up flying across the landscape just as easy as any other piece of rolling stock.
8/10 7/4/03
|

 |
Mad Derails
Drew also sent in these three derails including one of
that illusive tunnel that caught Flob out when we started this site. Good effort
6/10 7/4/03
|

 |
Petrol Crisis
Intercity Boy sent in these two great crashes. This time
with BP tankers going all over the place. He doesn't seem to be the only one who
can play with the camera!
9/10 7/4/03
|

 |
Euro Madness!
Drew sent in a massive bunch of crashes to me and here are
the Eurostar crashes. Couple of great derails and a fine flying Eurostar. Great
work.
9/10 7/4/03
|

 |
Flyin' and Slidin'
Tom sent in these shots of some decent flying derails and
a couple of great derails. Not sure about the trains hitting the skyscrapers, that's
just asking for a complaint but hey great stuff. The derail looks brilliant with
the camera angle.
9/10 30/3/03
|

 |
Up down and along
Nathan sent in these crashes including a spectacular
rocket train and two decent derails. Nice work
7/10 18/3/03
|
 |
Cliffed
Tom emailed this in:
"I crashed a train off the western end of the
Kicking Horse Pass route (Field British Columbia). The train went off
the end of a cliff and this is the result." Nuff said!
8/10 15/3/03
|

 |
More APT Testing Intercity Boy
tested out the APT in the only way he knows how... including one picture of
"Spot the train" well what's left of it anyways.
9/10 15/3/03
|

 |
Freedom from Calais
Intercity Boy again sent in some great crashes... this
time of the GNER Eurostar having a mind of its own, including ending up in a
field, going vertical and finding a bridge.
9/10 12/3/03
|
 |
Off the rails
Intercity Boy slipped this crash in an email with the
other flying ones he sent in. This has to be one of the best Scotsman crashes we
have had yet. Great work and nice camera angle.
10/10 10/3/03 |

 |
Backwards fun
IC Boy sent in these series of crashes. Great work
especially with the Scotsman and even a good attempt at hurling with the GNER
225 (Flob would be proud) Great reversing crashes/derails.
8/10 10/3/03
|
 |
Bufferstop What Bufferstop!?
Tom sent in this crash after he went into/through a
bufferstop at 110mph. Nice work indeed.
9/10 2/3/03
|
|
 |
Headstand Intercity Boy sent in this picture of a Class 50 going a
little A over T and into a headstand. Comical in its own little way.
7/10 1/3/03
|

 |
Ribblehead Derail
Seán sent in this amazing crash
of 12 Class 43 HST's ending up going head on, on the Ribblehead viaduct. The
trains were made to head into each other with a 4 second gap between them. As
they race round the corner into their doom at around 120mph everything crumples
up and balances as another bunch of trains smash into what is left letting
everything go everywhere. Great work Seán!
Want to try out this crash? Click
here and download Seán's Viaduct Crash Activity.
10/10 1/3/03
|

 |
The Hill
Another series from Intercity Boy, this time with high speed
derailments flying off a hill. Different variations on a theme with a Acela,
Eruostar, HST, Virgin 220 and The Rocket!?!. Apparently that train ended up
looking like it was having a seizure.
9/10 25/2/02
|

 |
Daft Derailments
IC Boy sent in some great derailments, including on of a
HST getting ever so close to the river. Ohh and a Scotsman derailment that's looks rather good (Regulars will know we spent months trying to get a decent
crash with that steamer).
9/10 25/2/03
|

 |
CN Frieght
Tom sent in these two shots of the CN Frieght trains
getting up to no good. Is that a TRAINZ wagon I see there?
8/10 22/2/03
|

 |
Class 50 fun
Intercity Boy sent in these couple of crashes of his class
50's going just a tad too fast again. Great results.
9/10 22/2/03
|
 |
Thats gotta hurt
Nothing like rolling down the mountain side after a
derailment... lets just hope they don't uncouple!
9/10 21/2/03
|
 |
Spot the train
Intercity Boy also sent in this great crash of the Virgin
Pendelino after it flew off the buffers at a ridiculous speed.
8/10 21/2/03
|
 |
Into the rough
Another from IC Boy with this GNER Eurostar taking a
diversion into the woods... hey its scenic atleast!
7/10 21/2/03
|
 |
Up and beyond
Intercity Boy... sent in this nice crash of this GNER
Class 43, really going for it.... nice!
7/10 18/2/03
|
 |
Falllling doooown
Nothing like the exciting back drop of Switzerland
and the Albule-Route to let a chain of wagons fall down the enbankment... well
mountain side.
9/10 16/2/03
|

 |
Big Locos!!!!
Sean sent this crash in with the following e-mail
that I think explains it well enough...
Is it my eyes or are those locos a tiny bit bigger than
normal.
A few giant maaaaaad crash thingys for the collection. Don't bother asking
me what is going on, as I can barely understand it myself! Heh heh,
Seán
Nice work
9/10 8/2/03
|

 |
Delayed trains?
Tom sent in these great crashes, with some
fantastic camera angles on them. Surely each of these trains will be delayed a
little as they either take to the sky or take to the nearest tree.
9/10 8/2/03
|

 |
Pro Train 2
Alex sent me this crash proving that its not just
Microsoft that dont fully bug check their games. Alex really wasnt going to
budge for that car.
8/10 8/2/03
|
 |
Ivor Tossing Champ
Alex
got Ivor the engine and conducted his own compotition supprisingly he came first
and is the champion! Well done Alex ;)
8/10 2/2/03
|

 |
Sliding and flying again
Tom
sent in these great shots, one of a series of Dash's taking to the sky and
another of a big Metrolink derailment/crash.
8/10 2/2/03
|

 |
Sliding and flying
Dan sent in these 2 crashes. One of 2 EWS class
37's sliding across the rails and one of the GNER Eurostar taking to the sky.
7/10 13/1/03
|

 |
Virgin on a disaster
Again Adam sends in another great shot, this time
of the Virgin 220 Voyager bouncing around.
10/10 13/1/03
|

 |
TGV vs a building
Another great one from Adam. Surprisingly enough
the TGV lost to the building, creating chaos.
8/10 13/1/03
|

 |
Flying Loco
These fantastic crashes from Adam showing the
Acela, Eurostar, TGV and ICE loco taking flying lessons. Great work
10/10 14/1/03

 |
Speed 3
Watch out for another adrenaline packed movie
featuring Sandra Bullock, a bus and a tram. Cheers Adam
